AN ANT'S STORY

Once there was a man who was sent to prison for robbery. While he sat in his cell, he spotted an ant. With many years to serve out his sentence and nothing much to do, he befriended the ant ..... gave it a name and taught it tricks. Hours, days, months and years the man spent teaching the ant to tap dance, hop on one foot, roll over, sit up, and other wonderful feats.
He entertained all the other cell mates with his ant act and brought laughter to the prison. Soon the man was released, having paid his debt to society. The prison warden, pleased at the man's behavior during his stay, gave the man a name of a friend who ran a circus. "Tell him I sent you," the prison warden said. "He'll give you and your talented ant a job with the circus."
The man was overjoyed at the prospect of having a job and bringing laughter and enjoyment to others in the mean time. On the day of his interview he walked into the circus master's office and set his ant on the desk.
"See that little ant," he began.
"You mean this one," the circus master said, and squashed the ant beneath his thumb.
